Milli Re Art Gallery
Milli Re does not limit its understanding of corporate responsibility to reinsurance activities alone; it considers providing long-term contributions to social, cultural, and educational fields as an integral part of its corporate approach.
Established in 1994 when a section of the building constructed by Milli Re in Teşvikiye was dedicated to art and cultural activities, Milli Re Art Gallery has organized many exhibitions that resonated in art circles and were followed with interest, while also preparing numerous books and publications, many of which have entered the art literature and are used as academic references. Containing the assessments of prominent writers and art critics, these publications are still used today as reference sources by researchers and academics, serving as important resources that contribute to the writing and documentation of art history in Turkey.
Alongside contemporary art, Milli Re Art Gallery has developed exhibition and publication projects that explore different periods of Turkish art and focus on insufficiently studied artists and works; together with comprehensive studies on artists such as "Orhan Peker", "Tiraje Dikmen" and "Léopold Lévy", it has produced research-based projects bringing together lost works, archival documents and historical sources such as "The Romance of the Republic: Country Tours (1938–1943)", as well as extensive research exhibitions shedding light on Turkey's architectural and Republican history such as "Thinking for Atatürk – Two Works: Catafalque, Anıtkabir; Two Architects: Bruno Taut, Emin Onat".
Some of the exhibitions organized at Milli Re Art Gallery have also been exhibited abroad (Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, Finland, etc.). In addition to the "Rural Architecture in Eastern Black Sea" exhibition, which has been exhibited at many universities and international museums at home and abroad since 2005, the "Mylasa Labraunda / Milas Çomakdağ" exhibition has also received invitations from important museums and universities abroad and has been exhibited in various countries and cities.
Our gallery has opened its doors to projects across a wide range of art and design in Turkey, gaining a special position in its field, hosting many projects of different content, not only in basic art fields such as painting and sculpture, but also photography, architecture, graphic design, thematic, historical and documentary conceptual exhibitions. Today, Milli Re Art Gallery has become an art venue with a special position for our artists and art lovers who do not compromise on quality, with its privileged line and unique identity created over the years, and has become one of the basic art institutions that has taken on the mission of contributing to Turkey's art vision by hosting exhibitions in the field of contemporary art.
As a reliable and stable institution providing a kind of accreditation in the art field, it has also contributed to the acquisition of works for the permanent collections of conscious collectors in the sector as well as a limited number of museums. Our gallery, which many foreign art institutions also find suitable for cooperation in terms of working principles and standards in Turkey, also undertakes the hosting role for the Turkey leg of international projects.
